Case Study
Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Datacenter Networking
Short-path spine architecture for hyperscale internet workloads.
- Industry
- Internet & cloud
- Region
- Shenzhen, China
- Deployment scale
- 1-100k server scale per cluster
- Products used
- S6700-32QF, S6700-48TF-8QF
Challenge
Datacenter scale growth pushed network complexity up: the architecture needed one-hop leaf-to-leaf reachability with consistent latency, and server scale from 1k to 100k per cluster.
Solution
Direct-connected the datacenter core to metro secondary-core nodes, shortening server traffic paths and taking pressure off the backbone.
Used VSU virtualization to merge physical switch pairs into one logical switch, and VXLAN+EVPN with M-LAG for virtual networking and link load sharing.
Results
- One-hop forwarding across leafs with hardware-level redundancy and uninterrupted service during upgrades.
- Cross-datacenter L2 connectivity for flexible resource allocation and large-scale tenant isolation.
